Fragrance Media
Scent can be delivered by many different kinds of
technology. A fragrance medium is a specific delivery system within a designated
category: ink, varnish, plastic, rubber, textile, environmental, or digitally
enabled. Fragrance can be delivered and designed for use in any of these
specified media. The forms that essences can take include liquids, solids,
gases, gels, beads, ceramics, pastes, and microencapsulation. In the latter, a
fragrance is captured in minute capsules. Microencapsulation can release
fragrance by the mechanisms of touch, rub, scratch, time-release, and other
emerging release applications.
Environmental and digitally enabled media are most frequentlyly delivered either liquid form, or through a gel, polymer, ceramic, or paste medium, whereas the other fragrance media mostly use microencapsulation as mode of delivery.
Please note that the term Fragrance Media can mean either the specific medium employed or the entire fragrance delivery field in relation to the advertising media. In creating your branding strategy, your fragrance media will take its position as just one among several elements in an integrated marketing plan. We use the term Fragrance Media as a general designation alongside other traditional marketing media, such as billboards, television, radio, print, digital signage, and the Internet.
